VE80 – Remembering Together

The Royal Commonwealth Society Wales was honoured to attend the #VE80 Remember Together event at the Senedd, Cardiff Bay, kindly sponsored by Darren Millar MS and produced by the Royal British Legion in Wales.

The event reflected on the momentous return of peace to Europe 80 years ago, and the immense sacrifices made by a generation from across Wales and the wider Commonwealth. We heard moving tributes to those who served in the Armed Forces, the Merchant Navy, and on the Home Front—many of whom called Wales home.

As part of a national moment of remembrance, we paused at midday to honour their legacy. The event closed with powerful reflections from Sunder Katwala, connecting past to present.
